Happy November, GW families!
I wanted to update you on our Walk to the Woods safety efforts and share a few walking and biking reminders.
Last week, the Patton Twp. Board of Trustees approved the hire of a crossing guard. Click here for the position description. Until someone is hired, officers have committed to assisting with the crosswalk before and after school. We truly appreciate their assistance and thank all adults who have helped keep our kids safe while crossing!
We're excited to share that Officer Snyder of the Patton Twp. Police Dept. will provide pedestrian and bike safety lessons to all GW students on Friday, Nov. 11. After his presentation, I'll send some follow up questions to ask your child about walking and biking.
One focus of Officer Snyder's lessons will be crossing streets safely at crosswalks. Adults at GW have noticed several students walking and riding bikes across GW Blvd at the roundabout as well as other places along the road. For safety reasons, we encourage all walkers/bikers to cross at the crosswalk only.
Finally, we've noticed that some walkers/bikers are arriving early at the walking/biking door. A reminder that the officers who assist with the crosswalk arrive at 8:15am. We recommend that students not arrive before this time. GW staff open the walking/biking door at 8:25am.
As always, I appreciate your thoughts and feedback. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns.
